Steamed whole cuttlefish.
These cuttlefish are fished close inshore off the coast of west Africa where there are presently no issues with the sustainability of the species.
Cuttlefish are widely consumed in many Asian and European countries. They are similar in texture to octopus and squid, firm and slightly chewy, but have a flavour somewhere between them. This mild flavour makes them an excellent product for people who don’t like strong fish flavours.
The cuttlefish are fully cooked in their sealed bags and can be eaten either cold or heated up. Heating can be done either in the bag, in a bain marie; out of the bag in a microwave; or directly on a plancha or in a stir fry or casserole.
They are an excellent ingredient in a fish stew, can be paired with rice or potatoes and have a great affinity with garlic.
