Brindisa has formed a Committee with a brief to keep a close eye on the rapidly changing landscape, specifically looking at how the disease might affect all aspects of the logistics of importing food from Spain. This includes daily checking of Spanish and French government websites for information about travel restrictions, road and/or port closures. The possibility of national border closures is something that would have an unavoidable impact on our ability to maintain supply so we are looking at potential ways of mitigating this outcome.
We are in daily contact with our food and logistics service suppliers to understand any potential factory closures and possible restrictions on vehicle mobility.
Brindisa’s supply chain is mapped out to be able to quickly identify any product at risk and react as appropriate.
In line with the company internal Hygiene and Safety Policy, UK Government, PHE and WHO advice, all our members of staff have been reminded of the measures to be taken to prevent the spread of the outbreak and to protect our teams and customers.
This policy will be constantly adapting to the nature, scale and location of the threat, both in Spain and in the UK, as our understanding of the specifics develops. In the meantime we are focusing on maintaining as normal a service as is possible under the current circumstances.
