At Brindisa, good food comes with a duty of care. Our CSR framework — 'Connecting in Food Excellence' — puts sustainability, community, and culture at the heart of how we work, from producers in Spain to customers across the UK.

ENVIRONMENT

Energy & Carbon

Our School House and Coach House offices—originally an 1800s Georgian villa within a protected conservation area—have undergone an extensive, high-specification restoration. This project was meticulously executed to honor the site's historic character while integrating advanced environmental technology. This investment has transformed a drafty period property into a near-passive, carbon-cutting headquarters that sets a new standard for sustainable heritage sites.

The buildings are now super-insulated to near-passive house levels, with all walls, floors and roofs upgraded to minimise heat loss. Heating is provided entirely by air-source heat pumps (ASHP), making the site completely gas-free. A rooftop solar PV array supplies almost all daytime electricity, with surplus first powering our Coach House offices and then exported back to the grid.

We work with Sustainable Advantage on independently verified SECR reporting, monitoring Scope 1–3 emissions and supporting offset projects — ensuring our operations reduce carbon while maintaining compliance with best practice. See our SECR report for full details.

Packaging & Waste

We track packaging in detail across all sites, monitoring volumes, recyclability and material types. Working with Beyondly, we calculate our Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations in accordance with the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging and Packaging Waste) Regulations 2024, and use this data to guide packaging choices that minimise impact. See DEFRA guidance for more information.

We operate a zero-waste-to-landfill policy, with all waste streams monitored monthly and reported internally. Cardboard, glass, plastics and food waste are separated for recycling, while obsolete IT equipment is donated or recycled responsibly under Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations.

We continue to review opportunities to reduce packaging at source, switch to more sustainable materials, and engage suppliers on redesign initiatives. These actions not only lower costs but also help cut carbon across the supply chain.

Transport

We optimise routes, invest in EVs and onsite charging, and partner with DPD, who operate a large EV fleet. Their electric vehicles now make over 100 million zero‑emission deliveries a year.

People & Wellbeing

Our success is built by people who are passionate, ethical and creative, with a love of food, origins and ingredients. We foster a culture that is open, honest and respectful, with high retention because we enjoy what we do and the diverse colleagues we work with. We provide welcoming staff kitchens, training, volunteering, supplier trips to Spain, strong internal comms, and trained Mental Health First Aiders across the business.

Benefits include wellbeing tools, discounts across shops and restaurants, Wagestream, Cycle to Work and Tech schemes, plus milestone celebrations and staff events.

Animal Welfare & Suppliers

We partner with producers who uphold the highest standards of animal welfare, traceability and craft. For example, Embutidos Luis Gil in La Rioja’s Ocón Valley raise 100% purebred Duroc pigs outdoors year‑round, feeding on organic grains and foraging in oak forests. Their closed‑loop farming preserves biodiversity, enhances soil health and supports regenerative agriculture.

CONSERVAS ORTIZ BLOG PRODUCTS

We also highlight sustainable fishing with Conservas Ortiz, who hand‑craft anchovies and bonito using traditional techniques and responsible sourcing such as rod‑and‑line fishing. This helps preserve marine biodiversity and supports local communities.

We make regular visits to suppliers to check on welfare, food safety, traceability, anti‑slavery and fair‑trade standards. These checks keep our supply chain transparent and aligned with industry best practice.

Community

We proudly support The Clink Charity — supplying catering for meetings, attending charity dinners, donating to The Big Give, and supporting their cause. We also back local initiatives, run staff charity sales, donate surplus food to food banks, and monitor food waste carefully. We also support Hey Girls, providing free sanitary products across our London offices.
